Australia Remembers
Friday, October 18, 2013
As we approach Remembrance Day this year, Australians are encouraged to pause for a minute’s silence to remember all men and women who have served our nation.
Traditionally, Australians wear a red poppy and pause at 11am on 11 November to pay their respects to those who have put their lives on the line for their country.
As in past years, DVA has developed a commemorative poster for Remembrance Day that will be available in late October. The theme of this year’s poster is the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Korean War armistice. A wide range of resources are also available to help teach Australians about the history of Remembrance Day and how to organise a ceremony.
